Victoria State Rose Garden

Welcome to the Victoria State Rose Garden website. With over 5000 roses (covering about 5 hectares), the Victoria State Rose Garden is one of the tourist gems of Victoria.

Awarded the International Garden of Excellence by the World Federation Of Rose Societies in 2003, it was the first rose garden outside of Europe to receive this Award and the only one (at that time) cared for entirely by volunteers.

The Victoria State Rose Garden is still open every day to visit for exercise.

Follow all Government restrictions. At present those living within 15 km of the garden can visit for exercise. Follow Social Distancing rules. Check all Covid-19 restrictions before visiting.

The State Rose & Garden Show, which was to be held on 6th & 7th November, has been cancelled for 2021 as a result of Covid 19 restrictions.

Please refer to Parks Vic Website below for the latest updates when planning a visit to Victoria State Rose Garden.

Some bright spots of colour captured the eye on a walk throughout the garden on Sat. September 25th. There are lots of buds everywhere with the Heritage Border blooming well.
It is a beautiful, peaceful place for your walk if you are lucky enough to live within a 15 km radius of your home.

These pictures are of Superb Fairy Wrens skittering around the base of the rose bushes foraging for insects when volunteers last pruned on 14th July this year, pre Covid lockdown 6.
